Harmonic Violence RollerGirls is a skater owned and operated, Non-WFTDA, women’s flat track roller derby league in Phoenix Arizona and is based upon empowering
our members by providing an environment where they are encouraged to utilize their skills and assets to grow and develop together through unity and each individual member’s drive to succeed.
We are a highly diverse group of individuals from all walks of life who have come together to form a league that is free of novel-sized rule books, complicated and unnecessary guidelines
and procedures, egos, cliques, and attitudes. We promote and encourage our unity as a league in EVERYTHING we do!
Harmonic Violence RollerGirls is structured in a way to get you in better health, teach you the basics of roller skating, teach you the fundamentals of roller derby, and get you bouting on
the flat-track fast! The steps and programs we offer go in the following order:
- Basic Skills Training.
If you have never been on skates before, or need a little help learning the basics of roller skating, or perhaps need to refresh your skills, we meet with you once a week in our private
warehouse and teach you the basics! When you are ready, or if you already have the basics down, you can take your basic skills test, and become the newest member of Harmonic Violence RollerGirls.
All new skaters, regardless of prior experience or skill levels, are required to take the basic skills test which demonstrates the ability to skate safely and efficiently so that we know that
you are ready to move up to the fundamental skills of roller derby. This test can be taken the moment you are ready. Basic Skills Tests are typically done on Wednesdays, but we can meet you at
our warehouse whenever you are ready.
- Bout Skills Training.
The moment you pass your basic skills test, you are immediately (no waiting) an official member of HVRG, and move to our Bout Skills Training program where our trainers and coaches teach you
the fundamentals of roller derby, familiarize you with our specific rules and bout structure, and prepare you for team placement. Again, there is no set time frame for this, and you can take the
Bout Skills Test the moment you feel you are ready.
Also, the moment you pass your basic skills test and become a Harmonic Violence RollerGirl, you start taking part in the skater benefits we offer, including our FREE bi-weekly Zumba classes
held at our warehouse by our certified and highly accredited Zumba instructor CRYSTAL CRUZ, our FREE monthly Yoga class also held at our warehouse by our certified and highly accredited
Yoga instructor RACHEL PETERS, discounted tattoo work by the HVRG's official tattoo artist, the amazingly talented MELISSA ZIMMER, and other discounts at all of our sponsors.
- Team Placement and BOUTING!!! You've made it this far, now you are given the opportunity to show off your talents! This is where the hard work pays off! You get to hit the track, and everyone on it!
Our requirements are simple. You must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have the following equipment:
